Just wrapped up an incredible experience at the 2026 ASCE Legislative Fly-In in Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This week, our ASCE SF YMF delegation had the opportunity to represent California and advocate for the future of infrastructure alongside civil engineers from across the country. A special thank you to our Board Member, Pinn Winyoopongphun, for representing and leading our group at this year\u2019s Fly-In.<\/p>

Together, we met with congressional offices to share real-world insight on how federal policy impacts the projects and communities we serve every day.<\/p>

It was especially meaningful to bring a Bay Area perspective into these conversations\u2014highlighting challenges around transit reliability, aging infrastructure, climate resilience, and water systems.<\/p>

We met with the offices of Rep. Salud Carbajal, Rep. Jimmy Gomez, Rep. Lateefah Simon, and Rep. Judy Chu to discuss key infrastructure priorities:<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 Surface Transportation Reauthorization<\/strong>
Advocating for a multi-year federal transportation bill before the 2026 expiration of the IIJA to ensure stable funding for roads, bridges, and transit systems. Reliable funding is critical to improving safety, reducing congestion, and maintaining aging infrastructure.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA)<\/strong>
Supporting continued investment in dams, levees, ports, and waterways to protect communities and strengthen the economy. This includes addressing the $100B+ project backlog and reauthorizing key safety programs.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 State Revolving Funds (SRF)<\/strong>
Promoting sustained federal funding for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure. These programs are essential for addressing aging systems, water quality, and emerging contaminants like PFAS.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 Resilient Infrastructure<\/strong>
Encouraging policies that prioritize resilience through updated building codes, hazard mitigation programs, and long-term planning. Every $1 invested in resilience can save up to $13 in future disaster costs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
