TECHNICAL PRESENTATION: METRO TUNNELING IN SINGAPORE – THOMSON LINE

 |

|
Calling all geotechnical professionals! Join SFGI on June 5th for a dinner presentation on a fascinating tunneling project in Singapore! This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and students from all over the Bay Area and learn about unique geotechnical challenges and hazards this project addressed and overcame.

  Time: 5:30PM – 8:30PM at
  Location: Michael's Restaurant
2960 N Shoreline Blvd. Mountain View, Ca 94043

Singapore’s 30km-long all-underground Thomson Line (TSL) involved the operation of approximately 30 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to complete the twin running tunnels and the construction of 22 underground stations, including five interchange stations. Needless to say this involved a number of challenges such as tunneling in complex urban areas and partly reclaimed
land. Twin bored tunnels of 5.8m internal diameter were aligned in side-by-side or stacked configuration to accommodate the constraints of the densely-built urban environment in varying challenging geotechnical conditions.
