Subject:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 2024 Regions 8 and 9 Workshop for Section, Branch, and Institute Leaders
Date:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â November 8, 2023
Â
The Leader Training Committee is pleased to authorize you to nominate one delegate to participate in the 2024 ASCE Regions 8 and 9 Workshop for Section, Branch, and Institute Leaders (WSBIL) to be held Friday and Saturday, February 9-10 at the Westin Seattle, 1900 5th Avenue. Sections without Branches may nominate two delegates.
Participation in the WSBIL gives Section and Branch leaders an opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences with one another. It exposes your incoming officers to the tools and resources needed to be an effective ASCE leader, allowing them to strengthen and expand your programs and activities. The Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL) and the Western Regional Younger Member Council (WRYMC) annual meeting will be held concurrently, and we encourage your Student Chapter and Younger Member Group leaders to participate in those events. We have worked diligently to ensure the success of the combined program and look forward to your Section and/or Branch delegate’s participation.
To ensure that your Section and/or Branch receives the maximum possible benefit, you are encouraged to designate the President-elect, Vice President, or Secretary-Treasurer as the delegate. If this is not possible, consider a Younger Member growing into a responsible position within the Section or Branch. (Please note that no person may repeat as an official WSBIL delegate within a four-year period.)
Registration:
The registration cost is $300. This fee will help to subsidize meals and refreshment breaks scheduled during the Workshop and is not reimbursable. Please register by November 30.

If you choose not to fly, the cost of alternative transportation such as trains or buses is covered, and travel to the workshop by automobile (round trip mileage of 100 miles or greater) will be reimbursed at the mileage rate of the federal Government at the time of the conference. The cost of alternative transportation cannot exceed the cost of an airfare based on the advanced purchase. Other expenses including lodging, meals, etc., are reimbursed at the per diem rate of $175.00 (for two days maximum, based on an overnight stay). Reimbursement forms will be distributed at the conference.
Â

Â
The Westin Seattle has agreed to waive its $25 destination fee for MRLC attendees. Unfortunately, this fee cannot be removed from the online reservation system, so call-in reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made online, but the guest will need to confirm the destination fee has been removed at check-in.
Â
We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
