{"id":4170,"date":"2024-11-26T10:52:12","date_gmt":"2024-11-26T18:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asce-staging.org\/sf\/?p=4170"},"modified":"2024-12-04T15:16:35","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T23:16:35","slug":"multi-region-leadership-conference-mrlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asce-staging.org\/sf\/multi-region-leadership-conference-mrlc\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-Region Leadership Conference (MRLC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"postie-post\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<div>To SF Section Leaders,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\" target=\"_blank\">Multi Region Leadership Conference (MRLC)<\/a>\u00a0for Regions 8 and 9 will take place on\u00a0<b>Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18, 2025 in San Diego, CA.<\/b>\u00a0The MRLC, which is comprised of\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wrymc\" target=\"_blank\">Western Region Younger Member Council (WRYMC)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wsbil\" target=\"_blank\">Workshop for Section, Branch, and Institute Leaders (WSBIL)<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wscl\" target=\"_blank\">Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL)<\/a>, provides a venue for upcoming leaders to gain knowledge of the Society and their Region, interact with students, younger members, section, branch, and institute leaders, while gaining personal leadership skills and learning the importance of networking. Information about each workshop, registration\u00a0costs, and available funding is described in detail below.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The conference will be held at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hyatt.com\/en-US\/group-booking\/SANIS\/G-MBR2\" target=\"_blank\">Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa &amp; Marina San Diego<\/a>. The group room rate is<b>\u00a0$239.00 per night\u00a0<\/b>for a single or double occupancy. Reservations\u00a0must be made by\u00a0<b><font color=\"#ff0000\">December 26, 2024<\/font><\/b>\u00a0to qualify for the discounted room rate.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As a leader within the San Francisco Section, we encourage you to share this information with your respective\u00a0groups (branches, institutes, younger member forums, and student chapters). It is recommended that at least one representative from your group attend; however, more participants\u00a0are always encouraged!\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>San Francisco Section Dinner<\/b><\/div>\n<div>As with most MRLCs, San Francisco Section will be hosting a dinner and inviting representatives from the SF Section and their guests to attend. The dinner will be held on\u00a0<b>Friday, January 17th<\/b>. Additional details are forthcoming; however, we do ask each group to provide a\u00a0<b><font color=\"#ff0000\">preliminary list of expected MRLC attendees\u00a0by<\/font><\/b>\u00a0<b><font color=\"#ff0000\">Friday, December 13th<\/font><\/b>. This will allow us sufficient time to find a venue that can accomodate our group. Members on this preliminary list will have priority registration for the dinner.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Additional information is provided below. I hope to see many of you in San Diego!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><u>Western Region Younger Member Council (WRYMC)<\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div>WRYMC offers an invaluable opportunity for\u00a0<b>Younger Members<\/b>\u00a0in ASCE Western Regions 8 and 9 to connect, learn from industry leaders, and gain insights to advance their careers.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wrymc\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><b>Registration<\/b><\/div>\n<div>$300 through\u00a0<b><font color=\"#ff0000\">December 20, 2024<\/font><\/b>.<br \/>$350 December 21 &#8211; January 9, 2025<\/div>\n<div>$400 after January 10, 2025<\/div>\n<div><b>Funding<\/b><\/div>\n<div>Each\u00a0YMF may nominate one (1) representative for the group. The representative will be eligible for reimbursement if they participate in the YMC programming and vote at the Business Meeting.\u00a0Reimbursable travel fees are capped at a maximum of $350. A per diem of $175 is also provided for both days.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><u>Workshop for Section, Branch, and Institute Leaders (WSBIL)<\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div>Participation in the WSBIL gives\u00a0<b>Section and Branch leaders<\/b>\u00a0an opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences with one another. It exposes your incoming officers to the tools and resources needed to be an effective ASCE leader, allowing them to strengthen and expand your programs and activities.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wsbil\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><b>Registration<\/b>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>$300<\/div>\n<div><b>Funding<\/b><\/div>\n<div>The Society reimburses one (1) delegate from each Section and Branch for the cost of transportation, not in excess of coach class airfare, for those traveling more than 100 miles round-trip. Other expenses, including lodging, meals, etc., are included in the per diem rate of $175.00 (maximum of 2 days per diem).\u00a0 Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance to secure low-cost airfares. The reimbursement form will be distributed at the conference\u2019s adjournment.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>To ensure that your Section and\/or Branch receives the maximum possible benefit, you are encouraged to designate the\u00a0<b>President-elect, Vice President or Secretary-Treasurer<\/b>\u00a0as the delegate. If this is not possible, consider a\u00a0<b>Younger Member<\/b>\u00a0growing into a responsible position within the Section or Branch. \u00a0(<b><font color=\"#ff0000\">Please note that WSBIL attendees are only eligible for Society reimbursement once every four years.<\/font><\/b>)<\/div>\n<div><b>Institute leaders<\/b>\u00a0should contact their institute\u00a0directly to inquire about reimbursement opportunities. You can see the current list of institute contacts in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1yxtpDnpzbQkvcP5p-v3AI0hpOy--7Yr19r4QwUuruzs\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">Staff Directory here<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><u><b>Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL)<\/b><br \/><\/u><\/p>\n<div>The WSCLs provide an opportunity for\u00a0<b>student chapter leaders<\/b>\u00a0to network with fellow officers, ASCE younger members and regional leaders; learn more about the Society and the resources ASCE provides; and receive personal leadership training.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asce.org\/education-and-events\/events\/meetings\/2025-mrlc-8-9\/wscl\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><b>Registration<\/b><\/div>\n<div>Please refer to the WSCL website for information about registration as there are strict limits on the number of attendees. Students must coordinate with their student chapter to register.<\/div>\n<div><b>Funding<\/b><\/div>\n<div>Participating student chapters will receive a $500 travel stipend after the event. Additionally, student chapters may submit proposals to their respective Branch to receive additional\u00a0funding if the Branch budget allows. Student chapters are encouraged to engage with their local YMFs and Branches to take advantage of the resources the YMF and Branch can offer.<\/div>\n<div><b>Practitioner and Faculty Advisor Workshop (PFATW)<br \/><\/b>This year the PFATW is returning to the WSCL. Sessions will run concurrently with WSCL sessions. Chapters wishing to send an advisor to the PFATW will be allowed one additional registration space but will only receive a stipend of $300.
