Singapore\u2019s 30km-long all-underground Thomson Line (TSL) involved the operation of approximately 30 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to complete the twin running tunnels and the construction of 22 underground stations, including five interchange stations. Needless to say this involved a number of challenges such as tunneling in complex urban areas and partly reclaimed<\/p>\n

land. Twin bored tunnels of 5.8m internal diameter were aligned in side-by-side or stacked configuration to accommodate the constraints of the densely-built urban environment in varying challenging geotechnical conditions.<\/p>\n
