 :\nREGISTER HERE\nPresentation Description:\nJoin  APWA Silicon Valley an
d ASCE San Jose Branch to kick off the new year with an informative lunche
on on Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) a critical component of modern
infrastructure projects. It involves the investigation\, mapping\, and man
agement of underground utilities such as water\, gas\, electric\, telecomm
unications\, and sewer lines. Accurate utility data helps reduce risk\, pr
event costly delays\, and enhance safety throughout the design and constru
ction process. Using advanced technologies like ground-penetrating radar (
GPR)\, electromagnetic locating\, and vacuum excavation\, SUE provides ess
ential information that supports informed decision-making and minimizes ut
ility conflicts. This session will highlight how SUE aligns with ASCE 38-2
2\, the latest national standard for utility investigations. The standard
outlines quality levels\, best practices\, and documentation methods that
ensure consistent\, reliable subsurface utility data across all project st
ages.\n\nAbout the Speaker:\nMatt Tomanek serves as Regional Manager for t
 he Mountain West (CA\, CO\, UT\, WA\, OR\, ID) for T2 Utility Engineers. H
e has extensive experience in providing subsurface utility engineering (SU
E)\, utility coordination\, and project management services for projects t
hroughout the West. With over 19 years of experience in the engineering an
d construction industry\, Matt has successfully coordinated projects to co
mpletion for thousands of public and private clients. Matt holds BS from N
orthern Arizona University and MS from the University of Arizona in Enviro
nmental Engineering and is actively involved with several Industry Organiz
 ations\, including ASCE\, APWA\, DBIA\, and ACEC.\nThe ASCE San Jose Branc
 h is a subsidiary of the ASCE San Francisco Section\, a 501c(3) non-profit
organization\, operating locally in the San Francisco bay area.
