 ation Description\nInterchanges have historically not prioritized the need
 s of bicyclists and pedestrians and have often been designed with a primar
 y focus on motor vehicle capacity. These auto centric interchange are ofte
 n a barrier to biking and walking. Caltrans and local jurisdictions have b
 een retrofitting and designing new interchanges in an effort to create com
 fortable low stress connections for biking. This presentation will showcas
 e examples from Santa Clara County on interchanges that are being designat
 ed and built to reduce barriers to biking and walking.\n\nAbout the Speake
 r\nLauren has worked in the active transportation planning field for close
  to two decades. Since 2013\, she has managed Santa Clara Valley Transport
 ation Authority's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program. Prior to that\, she work
 ed at Alta Planning + Design for eight years. She received her Masters of 
 Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\
 n&nbsp\;\n\nThe ASCE San Jose Branch is a subsidiary of the ASCE San Franc
