Presentation Description
Interchanges have historically not prioritized the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians and have often been designed with a primary focus on motor vehicle capacity. These auto centric interchange are often a barrier to biking and walking. Caltrans and local jurisdictions have been retrofitting and designing new interchanges in an effort to create comfortable low stress connections for biking. This presentation will showcase examples from Santa Clara County on interchanges that are being designated and built to reduce barriers to biking and walking.

About the Speaker

Prior to that, she worked at Alta Planning + Design for eight years. She received her Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA.
